In Part 4 of this series, we gave examples of websites whose first impressions were good for outsiders. The examples were specific to that issue. Now, we want to broaden the discussion and use of examples in this post.
First, here are 4 OPC church websites that we think do a good overall job of being visually pleasing, modern, engaging, etc. These are not meant to be compared to the standards in this series. They do some things we’ve discussed to varying degrees, but rather, these are sites we would point to as some of the better sites in the OPC. We haven’t checked every site. There may be others, and there may be better, but this is what we found. We would love to hear of any we missed and would likely use some of them in a future social media post. Now, let’s go outside the OPC and look at a few websites that might spur some ideas or thoughts for our own use. These aren’t perfect or even the best. We chose them because they have a couple of intriguing things about them that we might learn from. Obviously, we don’t endorse everything or how they approach things. Look for ideas, thoughts, phrases, and design ideas that you might be able to incorporate into your site that help you present your message in a way that engages outsiders.
First up, a conservative PCA church that recently redid its website. The visuals and design may be a little more than you can handle, but notice the content and how it’s presented. (This site used to be a ‘classic reformed’ website that said a lot for reformed people but not so much for anyone else and was not very visually appealing).
Christ the King PCA, Conshohocken, PA

Seven Mile Road Philly is an Acts 29 church with Calvinistic leanings, but also has a strong ‘on mission’ message in the city-which you may or may not like. But look at how they communicate their message and see if there are things that help you communicate your message more engagingly.

And then Emmanuel Anglican also has Calvinistic leanings, but is particular about how they communicate their message to outsiders. Check it out for ideas that you might bring into our world.
