There was a good response to our post a month or so ago with Eric Hausler talking about the 3 kinds of people you meet every day; we thought we’d do a follow-up.
In this short video, Eric talks about how to engage visitors ‘normally’ and not ask ‘nosy questions.’
Your church may not have the same circumstances as Eric’s (‘used to tattoos, piercings, and looking a little rough’) … but think about how this applies to your context and how Eric talks about implementing it.
For Thought or Discussion:
Eric talks about training our churches how to ask questions and greet people–he mentions not asking “nosy” questions and essentially being normal. On Outward, we talk about this topic somewhat frequently. In a past post, Pastor Paul Viggiano talked about “Being Reformed & Normal.” One of our most popular posts on Outward is a discussion of a few questions that we think would be helpful but could likely end up putting our visitors in an uncomfortable spot: “An Unintentional Unwelcoming Welcome”
